Alphington Grammar – Cutting Out Youth Homelessness (For
the second year in a row!)
Last year, our incredible Alphington Grammar community rallied
together to raise critical funds for Lighthouse Foundation. We supported 131
life-size cut-outs - each one representing a young person experiencing
homelessness in Australia – to demonstrate the scale of the issue of youth
homelessness impacting us here locally in the City of Yarra.
This year, we’re back - and we’re aiming to have an even bigger
impact on this growing issue.
According to the latest data, youth homelessness is rising by
1.04?ch year. That might seem like a small number, but when it’s about young
people—just like us—it’s a number we can’t ignore. This year, Alphington
Grammar Year 8s will be fundraising to take on 133 cut-outs. That’s 133 lives.
133 young people in our municipality without a stable, safe place to call home.
Lighthouse takes care of some of these kids and others.
You will see some of our life-size cut-outs at our Community
Service Week 30 June – 3 July, each one representing a real young person facing
homelessness. We hope this sends a powerful message to the world and our
community: we see them, we stand with them, and we believe in their future.
We’re proud to support Lighthouse Foundation again this year in 2025, an
organisation that provides long-term housing, therapeutic care, and holistic
support to children and young people who need it most.
Whether you're a student, a parent, a teacher, or a community
member, your support - big or small - helps shine a light on youth homelessness
and brings real change to young lives. Let’s show what our community can do two
years in a row. Let’s cut out youth homelessness together. Please share this
page and give what you can today.
